For more than 150 years, the Methodists have had a church in Hernando. Organized in 1836, a log house served as the first meeting place. In 1840, the first church was erected near the NW corner of Valley and East Streets. This building served the church for sixty-five years, and in 1905, a new brick church was erected on the town square.
Again, in 1940, the congregation moved, this time to 285 Holly Springs Street, and a new church was built to accommodate this growing Methodist Church. In 1975, the congregation saw the need to relocate once again, and plans were begun to move to our present location on Mt. Pleasant Road. The present sanctuary was occupied on October 18, 1981.
As a church, we are continuing to grow together as we embark on a new building campaign to enlarge our facilities and ministries. We invite you to join us as we reach out to our neighbors and our growing community as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.
