David Cox, our Senior Pastor, is originally from Clinton, MS. He received his Business Management degree from Mississippi State University, and is a graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary. He has served at First United Methodist Church in Clinton, Christ United Methodist Church-Memphis, Edwards United Methodist Church, Christ United Methodist Church-Jackson, MS, and as Pastor of Meadville United Methodist Church. He joined HUMC in June of 2013. He and his wife Dale, have five children: Ben, Rachel, Olivia, Sam and Joel. Brother David enjoys hunting, woodworking, history, architecture, and running in his spare time. His favorite part of his job is helping someone with a need connect with a church member who has the gifts, graces, and resources to meet that need.


Amy Daniels, our Minister of Discipleship and Ministries, is from Tremont, MS. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the University of Mississippi and a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY. Prior to seminary, Amy worked full-time on staff at Iuka UMC as children and youth director for 3 years. In 1995, she joined the staff at St. Luke UMC in Tupelo, MS as Program Director where her responsibilities included children, youth, and adult ministries. She worked for St. Luke for 3  years before leaving to go to seminary. Since graduating from seminary in 2001, she has been appointed to HUMC as Minister of Discipleship and Ministries. Amy is married to life-long Hernando resident, Sonny Daniels.

James Arnold is our Minister of Pastoral Care and Visitation.  He also serves as the chaplain at Wesley Meadows.  Originally from Paducah, KY, he received a B.A. in Philosophy and Religion from Western Kentucky University, in Bowling Green, KY. He and his wife Diane,  have two wonderful adult married children, Benjamin and Rebecca, who reside in Austin, TX and Olive Branch. He received an M.A. in Theology and Church History from Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL, and an M.Div. from Trinity Seminary, Ambridge, PA. He was ordained in the Episcopal Church,  and served churches in Jackson, TN (St. Luke’s) and West Memphis, AR (Holy Cross) before transitioning into chaplaincy at Methodist Hospitals of Memphis and then Wesley Meadows, Hernando. He was admitted to minister in the UMC at Annual Conference 2015, and pastored at Truslow UMC before coming to HUMC. His passion is to see people turn from lesser things and give themselves wholeheartedly to God and His purposes for them.


Josh Groce  is our Youth Ministry Director.  He and his wife Alicia moved to Hernando from Florida.  Josh left the field of aviation and his work as an airline pilot to follow the call to ministry. He is enrolled in Asbury Theological Seminary, and will attend classes at Christ Methodist Church in Memphis, and online. Alicia is originally from the Boston area, and Josh grew up in parts of TN, and New Castle, IN. Alicia is employed as a pediatric optometrist. They have two dogs. Josh enjoys studying scripture, golf, fishing, horseback riding, skeet shooting, and anything outdoors. He has worked extensively with the youth group at his church in Florida, New Horizon UMC. He says he loves working with youth because of the "energy they can create during worship!"


Kris, our director of Children’s Ministry, is married to her husband Michael and has two children Andrew and Shelby.  Kris is originally from Independence, MS and grew up in Independence United Methodist Church where she served in several volunteer positions that included Children’s Ministry, Communion Steward, member of the Administrative Council, and member of the PPRC.  As a life-long Methodist, she feels blessed to be a part of this body of believers and be given the opportunity to work with such wonderful volunteers. Since becoming a part of the staff of HUMC, she has been inspired to grow the existing programs and introduce new ideas not only for the sake of her own children but for the members she is blessed to work with.


Catherine Feazell is the Minister of Music at HUMC. She also serves as Choral Director at Center Hill High School in Olive Branch. She is the former choir director at First United Methodist Church of Holly Springs. Originally from Niceville, FL she and husband Christian, now live in Olive Branch. She holds a BA in Music from Washington and Lee University and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Mississippi. She enjoys “making music” as her hobby and says working with the chancel choir is her favorite part of her job.


Monica Black joined our church staff as Financial Secretary in June of 2013. She has lived in Hernando for 28 years with her husband Bubba Black. They have three daughters and seven grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoys flower gardening, projects in her husband's wood-working shop, and time with her family. Her favorite scripture is Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."


Lacey Hilliard is our Preschool Director. Lacey originally hails from Palm Beach County, Florida and attended The University of Central Florida Orlando. She has a degree in General Studies specializing in Education and Behavioral Science. She brings over 15 years of childcare and education experience to her position at HUMC. She resides in Hernando with her husband, Tony and two children: Peyton (10) and Paisley (2).


Melanie has been the Mother's Day Out Director at Hernando United Methodist Church for nine years, and worked in the Mother's Day Out program for eight years prior to becoming Director.  She is a member of Hernando United Methodist Church.  She is originally from West Point but has lived in Hernando since 2000.  She says her favorite part of her job is watching the children grow up in the Mother's Day Out program.  She says she loves watching the kids enter MDO as babies in the nursery, and then watch them grow into bright, happy, interactive, children as they graduate from MDO as five-year-olds.  Her hobbies include: painting, making crafts, playing board games, and "thrifty" shopping.  She is also a big fan of Mississippi State University.  Melanie has three children: Briggs, Molly and Neely.


Lacy joined the HUMC staff in July, 2017. Lacy has a degree in International Business from Mississippi State University. She comes to us from Brandon First United Methodist Church as Office Manager. She is originally from Indianola (Indianola FUMC) but has lived in several areas around the state since her family joined the ministry. Lacy and her family recently moved to Holly Springs, where her husband Jeff pastors Holly Springs First United Methodist Church and Waterford United Methodist Church. Lacy has three daughters ranging from high school to elementary that keep her on her toes: Lizzie, Anna Griffin and Ruthie.
