Can Martha Have a Mary Christmas? Ladies Mini-retreat November 19: 9:30-11:30 am
Do you find the Christmas season full of stress and pressure? Do you feel the weight of expectation for the perfect holiday on your shoulders? The busyness of this time of year begins to overshadow the spiritual joy that can be found at the feet of Jesus. Ladies, join us, as we explore ways we can help the "Martha" in each of us realize that she is entitled to the "Mary" time with Jesus that He desires during the busiest time of the year. Interested in attending? Email Amy Daniels to sign up.

Give to Those in Need
Interfaith Council on Poverty:
Each year during November and December, we participate in two major outreach projects coordinated by ICP. In November, we collect non-perishable food for Thanksgiving baskets for the elderly. This year we are providing baskets for 71 elderly households in our area. We are now collecting food for this project. We need all donations for this project by Wednesday, November 20. Our youth, along with other youth groups in our area, will help assemble the Thanksgiving baskets on Sunday, November 24. We need volunteers on Monday, November 25 at 9:00 a.m. to take these baskets to 2 or 3 elderly in our community. Volunteers on that day need to meet at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Commerce Street. All food donations for these two mission projects and your ongoing cereal donations are greatly appreciated.
On Sunday, November 24, we will start taking donations of items needed for Christmas for needy families in our area. We will give further details about this project at a later time.
Help us Collect 1,000 Books:
HUMC Children's Ministry will be holding a book drive through December 1. We are asking you to consider donating new (or excellent condition books) to be distributed in the public elementary schools of Desoto County where we already sponsor weekly "Backpack Angels." Donation bins will be placed in the Narthex of both buildings, or donations may be dropped off in the Children's Ministry Office.
Our goal is to collect 1,000 books before December 1. Please consider helping by donating a book(s).
